A wet bath is a compact bathroom in which the shower, toilet, basin, and floor are placed within one waterproof area. Water from the shower may reach most surfaces, so the walls, floor, fittings, storage, and electrical components must all be suitable for repeated moisture exposure.
Wet baths are common in recreational vehicles, boats, tiny homes, compact apartments, and other spaces where a separate shower enclosure would occupy too much room. In residential design, a similar layout may be called a wet room, although the exact meaning varies by market.
A conventional bathroom normally keeps shower water inside a tray, bathtub, or glass enclosure. A wet bath treats the larger room as the shower enclosure.
The floor is waterproofed and sloped toward a drain. Wall penetrations, pipe outlets, corners, and joints are sealed so water cannot enter the building structure.

However, the layout has several limitations:
The toilet and basin may become wet during every shower.
Towels and paper products need protected storage.
The floor can remain slippery when drainage is poor.
Ventilation must remove moisture after use.
Waterproofing failures can affect the surrounding structure.
Metal hardware receives more frequent water exposure.
The design should therefore include suitable drainage, slip-resistant flooring, accessible controls, and enough space to use the shower without striking nearby fixtures.
Wet-bath fittings should be compact, easy to clean, and positioned where they do not restrict movement.
An exposed shower system offers easier access for maintenance. A concealed system creates a cleaner wall but requires the valve body and plumbing depth to be confirmed before waterproofing and tiling.
A handheld shower is especially useful because it supports bathing, room cleaning, and targeted rinsing. The hose should be long enough for the intended tasks without resting permanently on the wet floor.
Material and finish also matter. Brass and SUS304 stainless steel are commonly used for faucet and shower components because they can provide structural stability and corrosion resistance when the manufacturing and surface-treatment processes are properly controlled.
Chrome, brushed, matte black, gunmetal, and gold-tone finishes require different care routines. Buyers should confirm whether the selected surface is suitable for the expected cleaning products and water conditions.
